It worked...

We had a 30% chance of rain last night which usually means that it will think about it, maybe tease with a few drops and that's it. Due to our lack of rain, wildfires have been popping up all over and we will also not be able to celebrate 4th July with fireworks this year. Drastic times call for drastic measures. I decided to temp rain last night. I left my clean, dry laundry on the line instead of bringing it in. I guess it was too much for rain to pass up and we got a huge storm with the promise of more today. Bring it on!

here's to rockers of all ages...

last weekend my 11 year old had his drum recital at the cherrywood coffeehouse (great food and great prices by the way) where he played the drums to subdivisions by rush. i thought it was just going to be a few kids playing drum solos for about an hour or so. instead, we were treated to a variety of bands, including residual kid (below...love their groupie right up there on stage until her mom made her leave), piano players, duos and family bands.

Are you smarter than a 5th grader?

That's been the running theme, as sung by my 3 year old, around our house this week after attending my oldest's 5th grade graduation ceremony this week.

So, I am now the proud, and at times terrified, mother of a middle schooler. He's already got the tween 'tude working. Could be a long summer.
